What to bring

Foraging is meant to feel GOOD, whatever the weather, terrain and company. Here's a checklist to get the most out of your wild experience. Please choose an event appropriate for your fitness, ability, health and interest.
Water
Proper hydration helps your mind and body work well. Bring for drinking and for rinsing wild foods before tasting.
Appropriate clothing
'No such thing as wrong weather, just wrong clothing.' We will walk, sit, stand around and be exposed to the elements therefore LAYERS ARE REALLY USEFUL. Do check the forecast and bring waterproofs (jacket and trousers), hat, gloves, warm layers, sunglasses, wind protection as needed.
Right footwear
This is very personal and your responsibility. Think shoes/boots or strong feet that are steady and grip well on uneven surfaces. Walks maybe muddy, steep, rocky, slippery and/or wet.
Equipment
Bag or container for collecting your foraged finds in. Scissors for cutting seaweeds and plants.
Money and/or books to sign
Have a book of mine already? I'm happy to sign it. Otherwise, please bring cash or a means to pay (PayPal, internet banking) for foraging books you might not be able to go home without. I don't have a card reader...
Personal medication and snacks*
You know your body the best. Please bring what you need to take care of yourself. *There may be tasters provided, though you may also be asked to contribute to a communal meal.
Notebook, pen, camera
I encourage you to be in the moment and savour the experience. However, you might want to record some information, although much of what we cover is in my foraging books.
Sun lotion, insect repellent
Red and itchy is never a good look, or feel. Just saying (from experience)...
Please visit the calendar to find out about scheduled walks/events or contact me if you would like a private foray.
