Wild and Sweet is the Winner of British Book Award

On the 18th January 2023, the winners of 2023's British Book Design and Production Awards were announced. Held at the iconic event venue: De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, Central London.

Blissfully unaware, I was at my friend's sewing studio fixing a wool skirt I'd found in my local charity shop. I recommend it as a great activity for winter evenings! Luckily, Hoxton Mini Press' publisher Martin Usborne was at the event and can be seen in the middle of the back row - happy, tall and cheering!

Celebrating the work of Hoxton Mini Press

Hoxton Mini Press are renown for creating beautiful, thoughtful books. They consider the paper, the carbon footprint, the feel, images and, of course, the quality of what they produce. They aim to produce memorable, lovable books.

I was honoured that they took on Wild and Sweet.

And their hard work, dedication, effort, time and eye for something good was acknowledged by the British Book Awards. Hoxton were shortlisted alongside esteemed publishers such as Quadrille, Hardie Grant and Thames and Hudson. They won the Lifestyle Illustrated Award for Wild and Sweet!

The Process of Producing a Book

If you've ever produced a book, you'll know that it's a labour of love. Requiring skill in; ideas, editing, design, marketing and illustration. A good publisher has this range of skills. For Wild and Sweet, Hoxton also commissioned the additional talent of Here Design to create the layout and illustrations to bring the content alive. It was a dynamic collaboration.

The photographs were produced by Elliott White, who brought another strong element into the picture. Well done Hoxton and thank you! That deserves a slice of cake to celebrate...
